Hair and Beauty Interview Process

All levels

Our Hair & Beauty courses are best suited to students who wish to develop a career in the Hair, Barbering, Beauty or Make-up industries. We offer both full time and part time study opportunities to suit all learners needs. With a large team of experienced professionals we are able to offer up to date training within a commercially viable environment. Each level consists of a 1 year study programme. This equates to 18 teaching hours a week spread over 3 days for full time learners. English and maths is straddled alongside your vocational option if you have not achieved a pass grade (4 or above) If you have achieved this grade then you will be scheduled for professional development to help nurture extra skills to complement your vocational option. Industry Placement is planned within the year of study at an industry relevant establishment to your chosen course.  Part time learners (19+ learners) are timetables for two days a week either daytime (9:30am-2:30pm) or Evening (5:30-9:30pm) There is no expectation to complete Maths/English or Industry placement alongside the Adult provision however, if any adult learners would like to complete these alongside their qualification they can apply for these courses as an additionality.

You will be interviewed around what made you apply for the course, interests, and experience.  Current school situation and predicted GCSE results.  Aspirations for the future and how you are as an individual. A member of the ALS team may also be present to discuss any learning support needs.

Bring yourself and any predicted grades & school reports.  Be on time and ready for your interview with prepared questions you may have. Most importantly bring a great attitude & be yourself! Please ensure you are on time and dress smart on the day.

All interviews will be face to face.

You should have a strong desire to work within the Hair & Beauty Industry & abide by the College ethos. Full commitment to attendance is required and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. As in the workplace appropriate uniform & kit will be required.  You will be provided with a full list of the uniform requirements of the course before you start. Your course will also include enrichment opportunities, guest speakers and trips.

If you wish to make any amendments to your interview, please log back into your Student Portal, and choose ‘rearrange’ and select and alternative date and time.
