Engineering Interview Process

Level 1 Diploma in Engineering & Manufacture

This qualification has been developed to provide learners with a comprehensive introduction to the practices and processes of engineering technologies. It covers knowledge, understanding and skills that are relevant to a variety of careers and study routes within the engineering industry and takes a hands-on approach to engineering training.

This will be an introduction to engineering and the course, and how this will prepare you for leading into Level 2. We will also discuss entry requirements and how to qualify for university and/or apprenticeships. A member of the ALS team may also be present to discuss any learning support needs.

Level 2 First Extended Certificate in Engineering

This qualification has been designed as a one-year, full-time course that supports learners who have the relevant interest and aptitude to progress in the engineering sector also give learners the potential opportunity to progress to Level 3 Foundation Diploma or an apprenticeship. The qualification will enable the learners to develop skills in English and mathematics and opportunity to practise these essential skills in naturally occurring and meaningful contexts, where appropriate to the engineering sector. Engineering covers a broad variety of roles and has a focus on a broad range of engineering specialist areas. This course will give the learner opportunity during practice in developing employability skills and give learners the potential opportunity to progress to employment in a wide range of job roles across the Engineering sector.

Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Engineering

This qualification has been designed as a one-year, full-time course that supports progression to an apprenticeship in engineering or to a second year of study at Level 3. Resulting in an Extended DIploma in Engineering, which will earn UCAs points. The qualification is equivalent in size to 1.5 A levels and aims to introduce study of the engineering sector. Engineering covers a broad variety of roles and has a focus on a broad range of engineering specialist areas. This course will give the learner opportunity during practice in developing employability skills such as cognitive and problem-solving, intrapersonal and interpersonal skills.

 

This will be an introduction to engineering and the course, and how this will prepare you for leading onto the second year and achieveing your Level 3 Extended Diploma . We will also discuss entry requirements and how to qualify for university and/or apprenticeships. A member of the ALS team may also be present to discuss any learning support needs.

Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering

This course will improve your practical skills and you will be introduced to underpinning knowledge, industrial studies, machine tool systems, materials and other modules vital to mechanical/production engineering. Trainees and apprentices in their first year explore more advanced techniques and procedures. This course builds on existing knowledge and further develops the practical skills, techniques and associated studies of trainee engineers and other personnel in mechanical/ production engineering.

This will be an introduction to engineering and the course, and how this will prepare you for leading onto university and/or employment. We will also discuss entry requirements and how to qualify for university and/or apprenticeships. A member of the ALS team may also be present to discuss any learning support needs.

Level 3 City and Guilds Diploma in Engineering

Improve your practical skills and be introduced to underpinning knowledge, industrial studies, machine tool systems, materials and other modules vital to mechanical/production engineering. Trainees and apprentices in their first year explore more advanced techniques and procedures. This course builds on existing knowledge and further develops the practical skills, techniques and associated studies of trainee engineers and other personnel in mechanical/production engineering.

 

This will be an introduction to engineering and the vocational course, and how this will prepare you for leading onto further opportunities post College. A member of the ALS team may also be present to discuss any learning support needs.
