Course Overview

This course provides training in a variety of beauty skills. On successful completion of this course you will have gained a range of beauty skills relevant for employment in the sector. However, there are wider opportunities if you progress to and achieve Level 3, subject to interview and references.

To add to your experience on the course there is also an opportunity for additional training courses held by external providers for a small fee which includes:

• Lashamore lash extensions
• Kryolan make –up courses
• Threading
• Fake bake spray tanning
• Ear piercing
• Intimate waxing

16-19 year olds will study Maths and/or English if this GCSE is not achieved on entry. Students will attend a 2 week block of Industry Placmentand part of their full study programme.

Entry Requirements

Requires GCSEs in English or maths to be achieved and a Level 2 in Beauty Therapy.

Course information

What will I study?

There are 10 mandatory beauty skills units covered on this course including:

– 301 Working with colleagues beauty-related Industries
– 302 Monitor and maintain health & safety practice in the salon
– 303 Client care and communication in beauty related industries
– 304 Promote and sell products and services to clients in a salon
– 305 Provide body massage
– 306 Provide facial electrotherapy treatments
– 307 Provide body electrotherapy treatments
– 311 Provide Indian head massage
– 321 Apply micro-dermabrasion techniques
– 322 Apply stone therapy massage

One Academic Year

How will this course be delivered?

A combination of Tutor led demonstrations, student participation & practice, theory delivery and commercial salon that will led on to formative & summative assessments.

How will I be assessed?

You will learn through practical and theory. When you are competent and confident you will be able to carry out treatments on real clients in the commercial salons.

Laptops maybe required to be brought into college by candidate to complete theory lessons.

Candidates also have to provide models for their final practical assessments.

What qualification will I get?

Level 3 CG Diploma in Beauty Therapy Techniques

What industry experience will I gain?

A Kit & Unifrom must be purchased within 6 weeks of enrolling for the course. Details of the Kit & Uniform are handed out during the enrollment process. Bursaries are available for those who are eligible – subject to individual assessment.
