This course will prepare learners for caring for children. It can lead to progression onto other Child Care courses, if other course criteria has been achieved. It is also an introduction for learners to attend mainstream education. Learners must study Maths and English as well.
Level 1 NCFE Diploma in Caring for Children
Please expect conversations about expected qualifications, interest in the course and in children. We will also discuss needs/abilities/any medical considerations in conjunction with the course requirements. A member of the ALS team may also be present to discuss any learning.

Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner
This course prepares learners with knowledge and understanding of Early Years children. Once the course has been achieved, all learners will receive a ‘License to Practice’ as a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner.

Your interview will either be via telephone or online.
All students expected to provide documentation for the completion of the DBS. This is to be given at enrolment for completion in the first 6 weeks of the course, alongside details of a chosen setting for placement. As well as this, all students are expected to do the First Aid course.

Level 3 T-Level in Early Years
This is a 2 year course, with 3 days in college and 1 day each week in placement (with some block weeks). Learners will learn about childcare and education from birth -19, with a focus on the first 6 years of life.
Please expect conversations about the course content and expectations of the course. Learners can also prepare some information to share about their experiences of working with children and why they want to do the course. A member of the ALS team may also be present to discuss any learning support needs.
